Desta vez vamos falar sobre os numerais em inglês (cardinais). Em quase todas as escolas de Ensino Fundamental e Médio, os alunos vão aprender essa lição nas aulas de inglês, mas aqui na UPRISE, reforçaremos este conteúdo para melhor memorização.
É comum iniciarmos este conteúdo com os números de 1 à 10, o que não tem segredo.Veja:
1 = one
2 = two
3 = three
4 = four
5 = five
6 = six
7 = seven
8 = eight
9 = nine
10 = ten
E como ficaria a continuação? Você notará que os numerais de 13 à 19 são terminados com "teen" que significa "adolescente" ou "jovem". Por isso os numerais que representam a fase adolescente de uma pessoa (dos 13 aos 19 anos) também são terminados com o "teen" no final. Observe:
11 = eleven
12 = twelve
13 = thirteen
14 = fourteen
15 = fifteen
16 = sixteen
17 = seventeen
18 = eighteen
19 = nineteen
20 - twenty
Mas como dou sequência depois do numeral 20? Neste caso, só precisamos acrescentar a palavra "twenty" e o nome das unidades correspondentes. Veja como é simples:
21= twenty (dezena) one (unidade)
22= twenty-two
23 = twenty-three
24 = twenty-four
25 = twenty-five
26 = twenty-six
27 = twenty-seven
28 = twenty-eight
29 = twenty-nine
30 = thirty
Para continuar nossa contagem, devemos então aprender o nome de cada dezena para acrescentarmos as unidades correspondentes em seguida.Vamos aprender o nome de cada dezena?
*Note que cada dezena em inglês termina com "ty" no final.
30 = thirty
40 = forty
50 = fifty
60 = sixty
70 = seventy
80 = eighty
90 - ninety
31 = thirty (dezena) - one (unidade)
56 = fifty-six
78 = seventy-eight
... e assim por diante...
Então para aprendermos a contar de 1 à 100, primeiro devemos focar nas unidades e depois nos nomes de cada dezena. Seguindo esta lógica, chegaremos até o numeral 99 (ninety- nine).
Para numerais na casa das centenas, utilizaremos a palavra "hundred". Observe:
100 = one hundred / a hundred
101 = one hundred and one
102 = one hundred and two
etc...
111 = one hundred and eleven
etc...
120 = one hundred and twenty
etc...
132 = one hundred and thirty two
199 = one hundred and ninety-nine
...
200 = two hundred
300 = three hundred
450 = four hundred and fifty
678 = six hundred and seventy-eight
895 = eight hundred and ninety-five
999 = nine hundred and ninety-nine
Lembrando que o "and" é opcional, então ocultaremos essa palavra daqui em diante.
E assim, chegamos na casa dos milhares (não confundir com milhões). Para indicar numerais nesta casa, utilizaremos a palavra ''thousand''.

1.000 = one thousand
2.000 = two thousand
3.000 = three thousand
1.001 = one thousand (and) one
1.256 = one thousand two hundred fifty-six
3.457 = three thousand four hundred fifty-seven
6.970 = six thousand nine hundred seventy

12.658 = twelve thousand six hundred fifty-eight
45.000 = forty five thousand

763.093 = seven hundred sixty-three thousand ninety three
870.076 = eight hundred seventy thousand seventy-six

999.999 = nine hundred ninety-nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine
Finalmente chegamos na casa dos milhões. Para numerais na casa dos milhões, usaremos a palavra "million".
1.000.000 = one million
2.000.000 = two million
3.765.000 = three million seven hundred sixty-five thousand
6.765.406 = six million seven hundred sixty-five thousand four hundred six
12.984.769 = twelve million nine hundred eighty four thousand seven hundred sixty-nine
78.980.772 = seventy-eight million nine hundred eighty thousand seven hundred seventy two
567.987.989 = five hundred sixty-seven million nine hundred eighty-seven thousand nine hundred eighty-nine
965.996.658 = nine hundred sixty-five million nine hundred ninety-six thousand six hundred fifty-eight
999.999.999 = nine hundred ninety nine million nine hundred ninety nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine
Assim chegaremos na casa dos Bilhões!!!
E finalmente... 1.000.000.000 = one billion
A lógica é a mesma para darmos continuidade na sequência.
Uma maneira fácil de escrever os numerais é decompondo-o em partes. Veja o exemplo:
1.658.870.873
One billion six hundred fifty eight million eight hundred seventy thousand eight hundred seventy three
Como posso escrever esse numeral por partes??
1.658.870.873
1.000.000.000 = one billion
658.000.000 = six hundred fifty eight million
870.000 = eight hundred seventy thousand
873 = eight hundred seventy three
